THE GIG... MuchMusic VJ
WORDS
TO VJ BY... Devon's MuchMantra: "Surround me in music." And that's exactly what's happened ever since he beat
out 2,500 wannabes from coast-to-coast in The 2004 MuchMuch VJ Search. A Montrealer whose Taurus traits of strong will and
determination throttled his thrill ride to Toronto – and in front of Much cameras – Devon's got the stuff VJs
are made of - a fresh look, smooth on-air style, and crack musical knowledge (he was just too irresistible for the station's
top brass to pass up). Now, swimming in more music than he's ever imagined, Devon can't stop beaming as a new member of MuchMusic's
on-air roster.
SAY IT: ROLL WITH IT Comfortable in his own skin, Devon's
always ready to voice his informed opinion and dish an intelligent take on the topic at hand – two of many abilities
he honed as entertainment editor of a college newspaper. Meshed with journalistic instinct is Devon's free spirit: he lives
for the moment, vows to have fun and believes in keeping things on a positive tip. According to Devon, one shouldn't "cross
karma…just breed positivity and it'll come back to you tenfold."
RIGHT NOW, DEVON
WANTS PEOPLE TO KNOW… …two issues important to him that centre around youth –
- Music in public schools: "It's been proven kids who study music do better in school…Playing music changes
the way you look at the world, and it stimulates and encourages creativity. Educators need to realize this."
- Teen voters: "Young people matter in the political process and they need to know they can make a difference
through voting."
